Thanksgiving in Oklahoma City: Events and Activities

Thanksgiving in Oklahoma City | Westpointe CDJR | Yukon, OKThanksgiving is the time of year that families around the country gather to celebrate their blessings. There are a number of things to do this Thanksgiving in Oklahoma City, as there are multiple seasonal events for families, couples, and individuals. There’s truly something for everyone this Turkey Day in our neighborhood.

According to Metro Family Magazine, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through November 26th, there will be fall family wagon rides and cookouts at the Honey Lee Ranch. This includes a campfire, s’mores, and more. There will be registration beforehand, as well as two ride times: 6:30pm and 7:00pm.

There’s also a free Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops, offering arts and crafts, activities, giveaways, and, naturally, the jolly man himself. There will be a complete list of events on the store website, and the wonderland will be up from November 11th to December 24th. Be sure to plan your visit with the kids.

Finally, there will be a number of 5Ks this Thanksgiving, especially on November 23rd. The Edmond Turkey Trot will be a 5K with an optional one-mile Family Wobble, and you’re also encouraged to bring dogs (on leashes). The OKC Turkey Tracks 5K will be in downtown OKC starting at 8:30am, and there will be a Turkey Day 5K at Normal High School benefiting the Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity.

These are just a few fun things to do this Thanksgiving with friends and family. We at Westpointe CDJR are glad the holidays are finally here again.

Chryslers in Films

Chryslers in Films | Westpointe CJDR | Yukon, OK

Our appreciation of the sophisticated Chrysler lineup at Westpointe CDJR is no mystery. Therefore, it makes sense that we would get a kick out of spotting Chryslers in films! Here are a few instances where you can spot a Chrysler vehicle on the big screen.

The Great Dictator (1940)

Charlie Chaplin fans may remember spotting a 1932 Chrysler Imperial Convertible in Chaplin’s satirical—and at the time controversial—film The Great Dictator, which makes fun of Nazi Germany.

The Hangover Part III (2013)

In the third film in this comedy trilogy, the Wolfpack gang is at it again. In one part of the movie, their minivan—a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country—gets rammed off the road by a semi-truck. Of course, any proud driver of the Town & Country would never stand for this in real life. But in The Hangover Part III, this leads the Wolfpack to be taken hostage, steering the film in a wild plot direction.

Logan (2017)

If you’ve ever been curious about what Chrysler will look like in the future, check out Logan, the final film in the Wolverine segment starring Hugh Jackman. The film depicts a 2024 Chrysler E8. Obviously, that car doesn’t exist (yet?) but it’s fun to imagine a long limousine version of the Chrysler 300.

Logan (2017)

Jackman’s final Wolverine film took a darker spin on the superhero genre, centering on a road trip involving Wolverine (whose actual name is Logan), Professor X, and a young mutant girl. The road trip in question takes place in the future, featuring a “2024 Chrysler E8,” which is simply an elongated Chrysler 300.

St. Vincent (2014)

The events that kick off the plot of this film—in which Bill Murray plays a Vietnam vet named Vincent that befriends a woman and her young son—begin with a car crash that results in him meeting the boy’s mother. Vincent’s car involved in the crash is a 1984 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Convertible.

The Hangover Part III (2013)

The “Wolfpack” returns for another zany adventure, in which they get behind the wheel of a minivan—a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country.

Babel (2006)

It’s a collection of four different interrelated stories taking place in Morocco, Japan, the US, and Mexico. The Mexico story follows a nanny driving the children she watches to Tijuana in a 1988 Chrysler New Yorker.

The Great Dictator (1940)

Charlie Chaplin made waves with this satire of Nazi Germany, in which he played both Hitler and a Jewish barber. The latter, at one point, disguises himself as Hitler and drives off in a 1932 Chrysler Imperial Convertible.

You can see many Chryslers in movies if you keep your eyes open; they cover a variety of genres and show off several different segments from the brand.

Car Name Meanings in Dodge’s Lineup

car name meanings
The Exciting Dodge Lineup

Ever wondered where car name meanings come from? Here at Westpointe CDJR, we’ve decided to answer some of those questions about Dodge’s model lineup.

Challenger

In the 1970s, when the Challenger name first appeared on the market, it came into the ring to take down its competitors – the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. The three rivals remain at odds still today, but the Dodge Challenger stands as a reminder that someone else might come in swinging at any time.

Charger

The word “charger” can be used to refer to a horse that has been formally trained for battle. Several vehicles have been named the Charger, but the current one charged back into the market after a nearly 20-year disappearance.

Durango

This one’s named after a location – specifically, a city in Colorado. Originally, the vehicle was called the Chrysler Aspen, which is another city in Colorado, but the name was switched to the Durango as you know it today.

Hellcat

Named after an American fighter aircraft in World War II, the Grumman F6F Hellcat, the Hellcat name refers not to a specific vehicle, but to certain models of vehicles that contain Dodge’s most powerful engines.

Viper

This one’s a little more obvious; a viper is a type of venomous snake. However, when it was being developed, the Dodge Viper was largely influenced by the Ford Cobra, so the name is also a homage to its inspiration.

Check out any of these car name meanings in person at Westpointe CDJR near Oklahoma City, OK to see if they fulfill their cool names (they do!).

Jurassic Park Jeep Recreated by University of New Orleans Student

Jurassic Park Jeep

A student at the University of New Orleans has recreated the Jurassic Park Jeep, one of the most iconic movie cars of all time thanks to the cultural phenomenon that was (and is) Jurassic Park.

Michael Adams, a University of New Orleans engineering student and Jeep Wrangler owner, turned his 2003 Wrangler into the Jurassic Park Jeep with the help of a local body shop. The body shop painted on the stripes and attached the Jurassic Park logo. Then, to make it a real replica, they attached a radio antenna and light bar, new tires, and other accents like painted mirrors.

Adams didn’t just alter his Jeep into the Jurassic Park Jeep for kicks, though. He takes it to events like comic conventions and lets attendees pose by it and takes pictures for donations as small as $1, which he then gives to St. Joseph’s Hospice Foundation. Adams has so far raised more than $1,500 for the foundation.

Adams is now considering moving onto another movie-themed project and replicating the Ford Explorer from the Jurassic Park film. If you want to buy your own Jeep to turn into the iconic movie version, give us a call today at Westpointe CDJR near Oklahoma City, OK!

3 Ways to Be More Productive At Home and at Work

Ways to Be More Productive

Staying productive can be a major issue for everyone, no matter your age, lifestyle, or background. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to keeping getting things done throughout the day, week, month, and year. We here at Westpointe CDJR have a few ways to be more productive this spring that we’d like to share with you!

  • Shorten Your Emails – Keeping up with an ever-growing inbox of emails can be a hassle and kill any sense of productivity you had. Sometimes responding to everyone can cause major delays, especially if you tend to be fairly long winded. To fix the problem, try to keep all email responses to five sentences or less. Try to make your signature stand out a little as well. Doing so will allow you to get through a massive number of emails and still have time left for other work or activities.
  • Keep ListsKeeping a list of everything you need to do is a classic way of ensuring you stay productive. Add things like visiting people, getting work done, chores, and appointments to ensure you never miss anything important!
  • Don’t Wait to Clean – One of the best ways to get rid of a sense of dread when doing a daily chore is to clean up immediately after completing it. Doing so allows you to start with a clean slate rather than yesterday’s mess.

Jeep Wrangler Pickup Truck to Arrive in 2019

new Jeep Wrangler pickup coming in 2019

It’s been quite a while since the truck segment has seen a true master of off-roading take the streets, but that’s going to change in just a few years. Fiat Chrysler announced the return of a Jeep Wrangler pickup truck come 2019. While there’s no name and few solid specifications to go on, it looks to be a model that’s bound to dominate the segment.

Known for its off-road capability, the Jeep brand hasn’t seen a pickup truck since the Comanche was discontinued in 1992. The next Jeep pickup will be based on the renowned Jeep Wrangler, one of the brand’s most iconic vehicles.

Set to hit the market in late 2019, the new pickup could bear a familiar name. Fiat Chrysler executives are considering some Jeep nameplates of the past, though none has been confirmed just yet.

The Wrangler pickup will be built in the Toledo plant, just like its predecessors. A new Jeep Wrangler will officially launch towards the end of 2017 following a $700-million retooling.

If the new Jeep Wrangler pickup truck is anything like it’s rumored to be, then the competition better step up their game.

We here at Westpointe CDJR are pumped for the arrival of the new Jeep Wrangler pickup truck!
